The Bailey Sessions

Kalte HeaderKalte will be releasing a new album on Crime League on October 31st. “The Bailey Sessions” is a long form abstract piece evoking glacial stillness and haunting depths, music that builds on our past work and hints at journeys still to come.

An event page has been created on Facebook to keep you up to date with information about “The Bailey Sessions” leading up to it’s release. By joining this event, you’ll be among the first to see cover art and hear clips from the release, along with a few surprises along the way.

Needless to say, we’re very excited to be sharing this new music with you, and we hope that you’ll join us in the next few weeks leading up to the release of “The Bailey Sessions”.

Transmissions at Art Souterrain in Montreal

ast2016-webgraphicsSubZeroArts‘ latest sound-art experience “Transmissions” will make it’s debut as part of Montreal’s Art Souterrain between February 27th and March 20th, 2016.

“Transmissions” is a new installation exploring the concept of Noise as Art. Using naturally occurring white noise, “Transmissions” establishes a new space for audience exploration created by naturally occurring white noise and sounds hidden deep within silence and lost radio signals. “Transmissions” exposes the audience to a more natural state of hearing through an aural environment defined by super-positioning white noise as received, processed, and broadcast by a collection of antennae-like metal spires located around the staging area. While these naturally occurring aural sources are normally filtered out of our conscious hearing, “Transmissions” discretely blends these sources to create a fluid soundscape defined by audio frequency radio waves that we would normally be unaware of, providing an opportunity to experience a more accurate representation of the natural sounds that surround us.

We’re both very excited about returning to Montreal, and we’ll be sharing more information about “Transmissions” with you on the SubZeroArts site over the next few days leading up to the event. In the meantime, be sure to like SubZeroArts on Facebook or add SubZeroArts on Twitter to keep up to date with all the details.

Announcing Cubeism at Camp Wavelength in Toronto!

wavelength2015-webgraphicsWe’re very pleased to announce that we’ll be presenting the latest installation from SubZeroArts, “Cubeism”, as part of Camp Wavelength at Artscape Gibraltar Point on the Toronto Island, August 28th to 31st. It’s been a long time since we’ve done something in Toronto and we’re really looking forward to seeing you there!

Cubeism is a new installation we’ve created for Camp Wavelength that uses light and sound to inform a location, creating a soothing new space to explore. We think it’s perfect for an outdoor event like Camp Wavelength which sounds to us like the best show of the summer. With bands like Holy Fuck, The Wooden Sky, Do Make Say Think, Loscil and more, Camp Wavelength promises to be a weekend to remember and we’re thrilled to be part of it.

Stop by SubZeroArts.com to find out more details about “Cubeism”, or if you’re interested in finding out more about what’s in store that weekend you can visit the Camp Wavelength site. And if you want to keep up with SubZeroArts, be sure to like us on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter.

ast2015-webgraphics1Deane and I are very happy to announce that the latest SubZeroArts installation, “TouchCubes”, will be on display from February 28th to March 15th as part of Art Souterrain in Montreal, Quebec.

“TouchCubes” is a brand new installation featuring a collection of interactive cubes that respond to touch by illuminating and emitting soft soothing music. In keeping with SubZeroArts’ ideal that the audience should be part of the art, “TouchCubes” allows participants to influence and create their own artistic experience, sharing in the creative process.

We’re very happy to be presenting “TouchCubes” to a whole new audience in Montreal. Visit subzeroarts.com for more information about “TouchCubes” and Art Souterrain, or feel free to like SubZeroArts on Facebook or follow SubZeroArts on Twitter so you can stay in the loop.

KALTE Live! Oct 29 at the Ambient Ping

kalte-poster-29OCT2013Dearest Kaltenfriends,
Admittedly it’s been some time since last we spoke, but we are happy to let you know that we are coming out of hibernation to perform a show for you on Tuesday October 29th as part of the monthly Ambient Ping event at The Supermarket in Toronto.
Needless to say, the last few months have been very busy for us as we’ve been working on a variety of very interesting scientific experiments in our Antarctic laboratory. Very important research on cryogenics, cold fusion, and even a little alchemy have taken up most of our time, but we’ve also made sure that we took the opportunity to prepare some new music for you, cold, stark and vaguely scary work inspired by chilling winds and unsettling shapes we sometimes see outside the laboratory windows. And of course we’ll also be playing some beloved Kaltenclassics and work from our solo projects Akumu and mara’s torment for those of you who want to hear the hits.
We so rarely have the chance to leave the lab and perform for you, so we hope you’ll be able to join us for what promises to be an appropriately chilling evening…

:zoviet*france: and A Duck in a Tree

A Duck in a TreeWe were very flattered to discover that our track “Shallow Approach” was included in the 29th edition of “A Duck in a Tree”, the weekly radio program from :zoviet*france: on Basic.fm.

Described as “a 60 minute continuous mix of some of the best genre-refusing, zero BPM, hypnotropic and maximinimalist recordings that have grabbed their attention”, we’re really quite pleased to be part of it!

Thanks very much to :zoviet*france: for their support!

Thank you to all of you who came out to Nocturne for last night’s Steven Severin show! Mr. Severin gave a fantastic live performance to the classic film Vampyr, and we thoroughly recommend that you attend his show if he comes to your city in the near future (upcoming dates include Pittsburgh, Lancaster, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Boston, Brooklyn, and Manhattan). If you’re not able to attend any of the shows you can still pick up a copy of Vampyr at www.stevenseverin.com, it’s a really great soundtrack that we’re sure you’ll enjoy!

Thanks to Daniloff Productions and Nocturne for their support, and thanks especially to Steven Severin for letting us open for him and for all of his inspiration over the years!
