Thank you very much to Daniloff Productions  and Maggie Morgue Promotions.

Thank you for coming out!

Thanks very much to everyone who made it out to our show at the Ambient Ping! We had a wonderful time playing with our friends dreamSTATE, and the light show by General Chaos Visuals was quite striking. Thank you also to all of you that tuned into the Livestream broadcast of the night, we were very happy to be able to perform for some of our friends that live a little farther away from Toronto. If you didn’t have a chance to watch last night, an archived copy of the show is posted at http://www.livestream.com/theambientping so you can enjoy it at your leisure.

If you have any pictures or video of the show that you’d like to share with us, please be sure to let us know because we’d love to see them!

Over the next few weeks we’ll be focusing our energies on SubZeroArts‘ presentation of LIGHTSOUNDPLAY! at Nuit Blanche Ottawa in September (visit http://www.subzeroarts.com/ to find out more!), and we’ll have some more events to announce in the months to come. We’ll keep you updated on everything as it gets confirmed!

Thanks again, we’ll be seeing you soon!

Kalte, Live at the Ambient Ping on August 14th

The Ambient Ping, August 14th

We are very pleased to announce that Kalte will be returning from a particularly deep hibernation cycle to perform an appropriately dark and mysterious set to mark the Ambient Ping’s 13th anniversary on Tuesday August 14th at the Supermarket in Toronto.

We’ll be playing two sets, the first in collaboration with our good friends dreamSTATE as part of their year long drone cycle project, and a second set of Kalte-y goodness ranging in style from delicate Icelandic lullabies to crushing avalanches of Antarctic sound. We promise a performance that will entertain and delight the coldest of hearts and the most isolated of souls, and we may have cookies too.

We’d be delighted to see you there, and you can find out more at http://www.theambientping.com/

Kalte on “Quiet Drones 4”

We are very pleased to announce that a new version of our track “Offworld” is part of the latest compilation from Paper+Sound. “Quiet Drones 4” is the latest in their ongoing comp series, and features music from our good friends Atonement, Chromosphere, dreamSTATE and Heiki. The theme of the collection is winter cold so it’s a very logical fit for us, and we’re truly flattered to be in the company of such wonderfully talented artists.

Find out more at the Paper+Sound blog or listen to a 30 minute super ambient mix of all four tracks by Heiki on the Paper+Sound Soundcloud page.

New review of Fissures from Hypnagogue Music Reviews

We are very pleased to have received a review of “Fissures’ from the always excellent Hypnagogue Music Reviews site. Describing it as “a stunning density of isolationist ambient sound, chillingly cold and marginally disturbing”, reviewer John Shanahan writes an insightful and thoughtful piece that nicely captures the essence of “Fissures“. Thanks John!

In addition to the Hypnagogue review site, be sure to check out John’s excellent Podcast as well…

Update to Steven Severin Show

We’ve received word that the Steven Severin show at the Drake Underground on August 28th (and the rest of his North American tour) has been canceled for personal reasons.

We are thrilled to announce that Kalte will be opening for Steven Severin’s performance of Music for Silents featuring Jean Cocteau’s “The Blood of a Poet” at The Drake Underground in Toronto, Ontario on Sunday August 28th.

Our good friend Liisa Ladouceur will be doing a Q and A with Severin at the show and DJ Darkness Visible will be spinning Darkwave throughout the evening.

The Sound is Watching You

Dearest kaltenfriends,

We’ve spent most of the summer hard at work in our studio space in Antarctica and now we are very pleased to announce a new project which we will be presenting as SubZeroArts.

“The Sound is Watching You” is a multimedia soundart installation that will be part of Scotiabank Nuit Blanche 2011 on October 1st in Toronto, Ontario. We’re very excited about this opportunity and we encourage you to visit the SubZeroArts site to learn more about the installation and to find out how you can help make “The Sound is Watching You” happen.

Needless to say, you’ll be hearing more from us over the next few weeks as things begin to take shape…

We’d like to thank the Agniworld and Darkfloor sites for their reviews of “Fissures” and for their support of our work.

We’d also like to thank CKUT in Montreal for their continued radio support of “Fissures”, and we were thrilled to see that it’s currently the number one release in the station’s RPM charts(!) as of April 26th.

Thanks also go out to Dhomochev for making this fan video for our track Svalbard from our “Glaciations” album. We’re very flattered that our work has inspired you.
